IKA Culinary Olympics Team Visits Our Mull Site

Last week, Bakkafrost Scotland’s Robert Alexander and Sean McKerlie attended the prestigious ‘Scottish Culinary Team Dinner’ at Prestonfield House Hotel, ahead of the IKA Culinary Olympics, which will be held in Stuttgart next year.

The dinner, sponsored by Bakkafrost Scotland, provided Scotland’s Culinary Team with an opportunity to showcase their all-Scottish, 3-course competition meal. Our fresh salmon was used for their starter and will be served at the Olympics early next year.

The praise from the occasion indicated that the team of Scottish chefs stood a real chance of winning the competition in February. Robert and Sean were photographed with Michel Roux Jr at the event, where he highlighted the vital role that Scottish produce plays in the international community.

German chef visit

This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming some of Germany’s top chefs and the Scottish Cutlery team at our site on the Isle of Mull. They had the opportunity to witness our premium salmon firsthand.

The visit was organised as part of the Salmon Circle program which was established earlier this year. It provides top chefs across the globe, who operate in the upscale gastronomy sector, with insights into the world of Label Rouge Scottish Salmon.

Learning about and tasting salmon

Scottish Culinary team had the opportunity to meet the team who raise our salmon and gain valuable insight into the product and how it is produced, ahead of using it in their competition next year. They also treated the German chefs to appetizers on the beach featuring our Native Hebridean smoked salmon - which everyone loved!

Team leader Orry Shand expressed enthusiasm, stating, We were delighted to see the salmon, learn about the journey, and meet the team. The product is truly impressive, and we are excited to showcase it in Germany at the beginning of next year."

This collaboration highlights our commitment to excellence and the quality of our products. Good luck to the team next year and we look forward to seeing our Label Rouge fresh salmon feature at the Culinary Olympics.
