Apprenticeship to expert programme
We are committed to developing and investing in our employees through our industry leading Aquaculture Competency Framework for our Marine and Freshwater teams.
Our competency framework provides a clear route for progression through our comprehensive training programme linked to our competitive reward structure and outlines clear performance standards across all our sites.
These standards are unique to our business model and identify and support our strong commitment to employee development.

Skills, Competencies & Professional Development
Our training ethos is based on ensuring all our employees have the knowledge, skills and confidence required to carry out their jobs to the highest health & safety, food hygiene and fish welfare standards. In the past year, we delivered over 1,700 training courses to support the development of employees across our full supply chain.

Cadetship Opportunity
Bakkafrost have an exciting opportunity for a seafarer to join our Cadetship programme, in collaboration with Stream Marine.
We are now looking for our next crew member to join the Cadetship programme.
You will gain internationally recognised qualifications such as Deck Officer whilst completing college and sea phases over 3 years, onboard one of our vessels in Scotland or the Faroe Islands.
On successful completion of your Cadetship, there may be an opportunity of a permanent role on one of our vessels should this be available.
The Cadet
You must be 18 before your starting your qualification.
You must hold the minimum entry requirements:
- 4 x National 5’s at Grade C or above
Must include:
> Maths
> English
> Science (Chemistry, Biology or Physics)
- You must hold a valid UK/EEA Passport
Degree / BSc Hons routes are available for results above ‘Highers’ level
