Development projects

Bakkafrost Scotland’s aim is to transform the business to become the leading, most sustainable salmon producer in Scotland.

Our ten-year ‘Fresh Approach’ strategy is underpinned by our Healthy Living Plan, which outlines our priorities under five sustainability pillars; Healthy Business, Healthy Salmon, Healthy People, Healthy Communities and Healthy Environment.

We have adopted industry leading RAS technology, have built an innovative post smolt facility and have two new vessels fitted with FLS technology to help improve fish health and welfare, gently and quickly.

We integrate our economic, environmental and cultural strategies in everything we do, working hard to support the positive promotion of the Scottish salmon farming industry. For example, skilled job creation and housing solutions in rural communities, sharing data with industry to improve fish health and welfare, and going above and beyond legal standards through rigorous accreditations.

We recently obtained ASC Chain of Custody certification and are working towards obtaining this for all of our processing facilities on the west coast.

We have a number of investment projects, including Applecross, Fairlie RAS, West Gigha, Mull,Morrison's Rock, and North Gravir.
