Native Hebridean Smoked Salmon wins coveted international food award

Native Hebridean Scottish Smoked Salmon has been awarded ‘Best New Foodservice Product’ at the 2022 Seafood Excellence Awards at the Seafood Expo North America (SENA) in Boston.

The Seafood Excellence Awards identify the very best products available in the North American seafood market. The luxury product has been recognised by industry leaders and was judged by a panel of seafood buyers and industry experts at the expo on Sunday 13 March.

Criteria for judging included the uniqueness and appropriateness to the market, taste profile, market potential, convenience, nutritional value and originality.

Native Hebridean Smoked Salmon has a truly unique origin and lineage. Reared in the cool waters of its natural island environment, Native Hebridean Smoked Scottish Salmon is coveted by top chefs worldwide.

Fresh Native Hebridean fillets are hand cured using a traditional island recipe. The multi-award-winning fish is then smoked in pebble-lined kilns over wood shavings of aged Scotch whisky barrels for a deliciously aromatic and distinctive taste of the Hebrides.

Su Cox, communications and business development director at The Scottish Salmon Company, said:

“Native Hebridean is a truly unique product having been specially developed over more than a decade and the award win is testament to this. It offers the discerning consumer a truly Scottish delicacy with unique heritage and is fully traceable to the Hebridean islands and West Coast of Scotland. It is our Hebridean hero!”

The prestigious award win comes after acclaimed Chef Jack Stein picked Native Hebridean Smoked Scottish Salmon as his winner for the Great British Food Awards 2021, describing it as “the perfect smoked salmon”.
