Fishmongers aim to reel in first place
The Scottish Salmon Company is again sponsoring this year’s prestigious Golden Fish competition at the world-renowned SIRHA (Salon International de la Restauration, de l'Hôtellerie et de l'Alimentation) trade show in Lyon.
Now in its twentieth year, the much-anticipated bi-annual event will take place at the Eurexpo from 23 to 27 September 2021.
SIRHA showcases the very best of the hospitality and food service industry over five days with more than 3,000 international exhibitors.
In the competition, six master French fishmongers will prepare and present The Scottish Salmon Company’s Label Rouge Tartan Salmon to a panel of judges in a series of events to demonstrate their craft, as well as answering questions to demonstrate the depths of their knowledge.
Other attractions will include cooking masterclasses and various roundtables addressing topical industry issues such as lessons learned from the COVID-19 crisis and tackling food waste.
Frederic Chevallet, president of Lyon-Poissonnier-Ecailler society said:
“We are looking forward to hosting the Golden Fish competition with The Scottish Salmon Company at an in-person trade show.
“It’s important to celebrate not only the skilled professionals within the seafood sector here, but the thousands of jobs it supports.
“We’re pleased to have The Scottish Salmon Company as a long term partner, their proud Scottish heritage and quality produce makes it the perfect fit for our exhibition.”
Su Cox, Communications and Business Development Director at The Scottish Salmon Company said:
“There really is no better place to promote the traditional skilled craft, hard work, creativity and dedication of French fishmongers than at Sirha.
“We are proud to sponsor The Golden Fish competition for the fourth time, celebrating French fishmongers and their craft.
“Bonne chance to all the fishmongers that will be competing.”
